Help Your Child

Put It In the Bag!

Your child will be bringing home a paper bag they decorated in class this week. . . and asking you to help them fill it so that they could join in feeding our Ridgewood neighbors in need this Thanksgiving season.

Participating families are welcome to drop off their family’s filled bag with their child’s classroom teacher from November [TBD for 2025]. The deadline is [TBD for 2025].

In the Bag! is a Little Ivy Learning Center tradition as part of both our year-long Caring & Sharing and Healthy Nutrition curricula. By giving each of our students ownership of their bag, In the Bag! provides them (with your help) with hands-on opportunities to discover first-hand both the building blocks of good nutrition and the importance of doing good by joining with parents and friends to actively watch out for our neighbors in need.

In the Bag! supports the Thanksgiving Food Drive of our neighborhood Social Service Association of Ridgewood & Vicinity (SSA). SSA’s wish list this year includes any of the following: Meals in a Can (Canned Ravioli, Spam, Ham, Chicken, Stew, etc.); Cold and Hot Cereal (Oatmeal); Canned Tuna; Canned or Plastic Bottled or Boxed 100% Fruit Juice; Peanut Butter and Jelly (no glass jars); Canned Tomato Products (Spaghetti Sauce, Diced, Stewed, Puree, etc.) ; Pasta; Rice; Macaroni and Cheese; Canned Fruits, Vegetables and Beans; Cranberry Sauce, Pumpkin and Stuffing Mix; Snacks, Cookies & Crackers; Pancake Mix & Syrup Cake Mix; and Coffee & Condiments. Local grocery store gift cards also are welcome.

We hope you’ll join us this Thanksgiving season by putting it In the Bag!
